Shop Local on Black Friday

Today is Black Friday; which is the biggest retail shopping day in the United States of America.

Many people generally head out of town to head to the big time retail stores for the Black Friday deals they offer, but Elberton Main Street Director Sissy Herring says that people should head by their local merchants first.

“Please start at home”, said Herring. “Those merchants that have built their business from the ground up, those merchants who hire your children to work part time jobs, those merchants that support local fundraisers. Support your local merchants first.”

Herring said that nearly all of Elberton’s local stores will be open today.

In the spirit of supporting local business, tomorrow, Saturday, November 24th has been officially designated as “Shop at Home” Day across the nation.
