A scene reminiscent of the 2000 film Dude Where’s My Car, as an Elbert County man faces warrants for reporting false information in regards to a stolen vehicle.

According to the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was reported stolen from a Calhoun Falls Highway Address on Saturday morning.

When, in fact, the vehicle had run out of gas on Friday night.  The “victim” did not remember that fact due to being under the influence. The vehicle was recovered on Cherokee Road, approximately three miles from the man’s home.

The “stolen” vehicle is in possession of the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, where warrants have also been signed charging the man with reporting false information to law enforcement officers.
