The 16th Annual Cruise-In Car Show, a presentation of Mainstreet Elberton, is in the books after this past weekend.
Assistant Director of Community Affairs for the City of Elberton Tiffany Gibbons says despite the threat of rain on the day of the event, that they had a very solid turnout.
“Considering the weather and that it rained earlier in the day, we had a great turn out. We had at around seventy cars enter this year a lot local but a lot took their chances and came from out of town, so we were really glad to see them arrive and support the community and we had volunteers and support from all directions. It turned to be a really nice day”, says Gibbons.
One new addition this year was a variety of vendors that offered items which could not be purchased at any of the local eating establishments on the square.
Gibbons says that is something they will probably look to continue at future events.
“That was new this year; we thought we would try to add a little to the festivities they were there with the funnel cakes, lemonades, and ribbon potatoes. That seemed to be a hit so we will probably keep that up maybe add to it in the next year just to see how that goes”, says Gibbons.
This year’s winners for the following categories are for Owner’s Choice Classic Car – Mark Richey, Classic Truck – Mike Brooks, and Rat Rod – Jason Collins.
People’s Choice Car – Kyle Lunsford, Truck – David Bowers, Motorcycle – Andy Dean; and Best in Show this year was presented to Ben Carey.
