The much anticipated 5th Annual TJ and Friends Foundation ride against cancer will roll out on Saturday.
Originally scheduled to take place back in May, inclement weather forced the ride to be pushed back to June 22nd.
TJ and Friends President Gary Purvis says the ride’s format will be returning back to its roots.
“Our first ride went up towards Helen, and we are going back towards Helen this time”, said Purvis. “The old west restaurant that was there is now a Western Sizzlin’ and he has a steak and seafood buffet set up for us, so we are heading back there this year.”
The foundation is in its 5th year of existence, and Purvis says he is still amazed at the support the community has continued to show the foundation.
“We keep coming back to the well thinking there can’t be any more water in the well, but every time we come up the bucket is not dry”, expressed Purvis. “Thank you so much to your listeners, and we really appreciate your support.”
Riders will meet up at A&D Cycles this Saturday.
Registration begins at 7:30am, and kickstands will be up at 9:00am sharp, so Purvis advises anyone wanting to participate to show up on time.
Cost to participate in the ride is twenty-five dollars per person, and included in that cost will be an all you can eat buffet lunch in Helen, GA.
So far in 2013, the TJ and Friends Foundation has raised over thirty-seven thousand dollars, and in the five and a half years the foundation has been around; a total of roughly three hundred and sixty thousand dollars have been given to local cancer patients.
