Tommy Brewer Johnson, 70, of 120 Oak Drive, Elberton, husband of Gloria J. Johnson, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospice House with his family at his side.
Mr. Johnson was born in Elbert County, January 28, 1942, to Sara Dixon Johnson and the late Alvin Brewer Johnson. He was a retired stone cutter and attended Deep Creek Baptist Church. An avid golfer, Tommy was a member of the Elberton Country Club and Gideons International.
Left t to cherish his memories are his wife, Gloria J. Johnson, to whom he married February 12, 1966; children and their spouses, Lisa and Mark Tolbert of Brandon, Mississippi and Phil and Audrey Johnson of Elberton; mother, Sara Dixon Johnson of Elberton; siblings, Rodger Johnson, Dale Sprouse, Nancy Fleming, all of Elberton, and Gerald Johnson of Cumming; three grandchildren, Katie Grace Johnson, Bailey Johnson, and Gabriel Tolbert; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2PM Friday, December 21, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Tim Adams and Scott Mize officiating. Interment will follow in Tignall Baptist Church Cemetery with Jared Fleming, Larry Brady, Bobby Wilson, Bill Hall, Grady Tolbert, and Charles Hulett serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lamar Thompson, Roger Sprouse, and Jack Heard, Leon Aycock, and Donnie Kea.
The family is at the residence of Phil and Audrey Johnson, 1190 Country Club Road, Elberton, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6-8PM Thursday evening.
