The Elbert County Lady Devil and Blue Devil track teams will be attending their Sectionals Saturday. Sectionals will be the final meet to determine who makes it to State and whose season comes to an end.
For the Lady Devils, Angel McClary will be competing in the 100m and 200m dash. The 4x100m team will also be going. That team consists of Angel McClary, Taliah McClary, Kiara Rollinson, and Atira Fortson. In the field the Lady Devils qualified one in the Triple Jump and that was Atira Fortson.
For the boys Marquice Dye and Zak Allen will be attending in the 100m. Allen along with Mecole Hardman will also be in the 200m. Andrew Rivers qualified in the 400m and 800m races. Dye and Rantious Reed will run in the 110m hurdles; Reed will also be competing in the 300m hurdles.
Both 4x100m teams qualified for Sectionals for the Blue Devils. Team 1 consists of Hardman, Allen, Dimeris Newman, and Marquice Dye; team 2 is made of Reed, Josepth Johnson, La’Kel Hood, and Aarion Allen. In the 4x400m the Devils only qualified one team which is held down by Allen, Hardman, Rivers, and Deunqavuis Odister.
In the field Hardman qualified in the Long Jump and Triple Jump; he will be accompanied in the Long Jump by Reed who also qualified. In throws Dessen Bolton was the lone qualifier in discuss.
Sectionals will be held at East Jackson High School Saturday starting at 10:00 and will include all qualifiers from AAA regions 1, 3, 7, and 8.
