A pair of Elbert County residents are facing drug charges after a traffic stop late Friday evening.
According to a press release from the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on Hartwell Highway after clocking a vehicle going 75mph in a 55mph zone.
As a result of that stop, 25-year-old Willie Maxwell of a Limo Road residence in Elberton was arrested.
He was charged with felony charges of Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, and was also charged with Speeding in Excess of Maximum Limits and Possession of Drug Related Objects.
Another individual, identified as 25-year-old David Rucker of a Hunter Road address, was also arrested on a misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana charge.
Both were transported to the Elbert County Detention Center after their arrests, and were later released on bond.
