Investigators with the Elberton Police Department and Elbert County Sheriff’s Office are still following leads on the “tree trimmer” scam cases.

According to Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland, the tree trimmer has struck in Hart County, using the same set up.

“First she told them no that she didn’t have any limbs that needed trimming, he said he had to show her”, said Sheriff Cleveland. “When she returned inside her home, that is when she noticed her purse missing.”

There were two victims in Elbert County, one in the city of Elberton, and the other off of Highway 368.

Just like in Hart County, the scammer lured each of the victims out of their homes to discuss yard work. By the time the victims made it back inside, they noticed various amounts of cash and items missing.

Investigators believe multiple people are involved with the scam.

Anyone with any information about these cases can contact their local law enforcement agency.

The Elberton Police Department can be reached at (706) 213-3130, and the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office can be contacted at (706) 283-2421.

All cases are currently under investigation.
