Two Elbert County teens were arrested Tuesday afternoon on charges of 1st Degree Burglary by Elbert County Sheriff’s Office Investigators.

Elbert County Sheriff Barry Haston said that a burglary was reported at a residence on Drake Road that occurred in the early morning hours of December 17th while the residents were still asleep.

The suspects allegedly stole a nearby golf cart to travel through the woods to the residence, and then used a torch to bust out a side window to gain entry into the home.

After removing various items from the address, they then returned the golf cart to its original location.

Investigators working on the case were able to identify two suspects who later confessed to the crime. 17 year old Jeremy Scarborough of a Flatwoods road address and 18 year old Kenneth Dalton Forrester of a Washington Highway residence were arrested on one count each of 1st Degree Burglary.

Both are currently being held in the Elbert County Detention Center.
