Two Elbert County residents have been arrested on burglary and theft by taking charges by the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office.
47-year-old Don Miles Balentine of a Willie Black Road address and 37-year-old Hoa Nguyen were arrested Tuesday evening in connection with a reported burglary earlier that day.
Investigator Darren Scarborough said that one of the men, when questioned by a deputy, slipped up.
“A guy actually implemented himself being in a burglary yesterday”, said Scarborough. “We located the vehicle they were traveling in, and we arrested the two men initially on burglary charges.”
The pair allegedly stole several power tools and miscellaneous items from another resident of the trailer park where Balentine resides.
The items were stolen from inside and around a utility shed on the victim’s property, which is where the burglary and theft by taking charges stem from.
Scarborough says that they have recovered a good portion of the property that was reported missing.
“We have recovered approximately three quarters of the stuff that was taken yesterday, and we are continuing to work and see if we can locate the rest of the stuff that was taken”, said Scarborough.
Roughly fifteen hundred dollars worth of property was allegedly stolen by Balentine and Nguyen.
Both were transported to the Elbert County Detention Center after their arrests, no word on if either will be granted bond at this time.
