August 23, 2013

An Elbert County couple remains behind bars this morning after being arrested earlier this week on drug related charges.

According to Investigator Darren Scarborough with the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, a probation warrant was being served for 28-year-old Joseph Eric Carey at a West Hendricks Street Address.

Scarborough says that Carey was found hiding at the residence.

“Officers knocked on the door and the lady said she hadn’t seen him in about four months, they asked if they could search and Carey was located inside of a closet”, said Scarborough. “Beside the bed that they were in was a Marijuana joint and some drug paraphernalia.”

Also arrested was 35-year-old Robin Lanay Davis on misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects, and Obstruction of Law Enforcement.

Carey was arrested and served the probation warrant, and is also being charged with misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana and Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects.

Both currently remain in custody at the Elbert County Detention Center, bond has been set at $1,000 for Davis, and no bond has been set at this time for Carey.
