Two Elberton Men Behind Bars in Connection With String of Burglaries

February 6, 2013

Two Elberton men have been arrested in connection with the string of burglaries at the Verizon Wireless store located off of Heard Street.

The burglaries occurred in the later part of last month on January 22nd and January 31st.

According to Investigator Scott Marunich with the Elberton Police Department, both burglaries shared similar details.

“They ran up with a rock or some object of that nature and threw it threw the window, and during the second burglary they smashed the other window out”, says Marunich. “Two subjects entered into the store and went into the inventory room and removed a quantity of phones during the January 31st burglary.”

Through investigation of the burglaries, investigators were able to link 19-year-old Blundy D. Gaines and 27-year-old Wesley P. Huff, both of Elberton, to the burglaries.

Gaines has been charged with one count of burglary, and Huff has been charged with two counts of burglary.

Reports to the Elberton Police Department estimate that over twelve thousand dollars worth of phones were stolen in the two burglaries. At this time, only a portion of the phones have been recovered.

The investigation into these burglaries continues by the Elberton Police Department.
