In the wake of the holiday season, which normally brings cheerfulness and joy, saw two homes in Elbert County catch fire on Sunday, December 30th.

The first incident occurred in the area of Harmony Road, where a double wide mobile home caught fire. Elbert County Fire Chief Rick Mewborne said that the fire originated in the kitchen/utility area, and that the fire burned a significant hole in the home’s roof.

The other house fire happened at a home off of Jerry Lane. The owner of the home was not present during the fire, as Fire Chief Mewborne suspects that the house caught fire at some point that night, and burned completely down before the owner returned home.

Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the fires.
