February 6, 2013

Its looking like the federal government is at it again, when it comes to the regulation of snack foods in schools.

This week, the Federal Register is expected to publish proposed regulations for the American people to consider in regards to this issue.

United States Department of Agriculture Under Secretary Kevin Concannon talks about how the proposed regulations work.

“Basically what it does is it makes sure that American kids that go to school, that whatever snacks they purchase during the school day are healthier than what they currently have available at other places”, explained Concannon.

The recommendations on the new regulations come from a committee made up of scientists, and is also headed up by a pediatrician.
