Voter Registration Deadline for November Elections Established

May 28, 2014

Elbert County voters have until October 6th to register to vote to make their voices heard in the upcoming local November elections.

Chief Registrar of Elbert County Charlotte Ward says that leaves voters plenty of time to register.

“So please call us or come by, you can go online. In fact Georgia was one of the first states that kicked off the registration online, just go to secretarial states website and click on my voter page and it will allow you to register to vote, says Ward.”

Contested races in Elbert County are all focused on the Elbert County Board of Commissioners.

In District 2, current sitting Commissioner Harold Reynolds is not seeking re-election, which leaves Republican candidate Bobby Lee Vaughn Jr. running against Democratic candidate Perry Rhodes.

District 4’s race will be between Incumbent Kenneth Ashworth and Democratic challenger Donnie O’Neal Saddler.

The final contested race is in District 5, where Incumbent Freddie Jones will face Republican candidate Zebulon Elbert Worley.

The position of Board Chairman is uncontested, with only Tommy Lyon seeking election at this point.

Other positions up for election in November are the Elbert County Board of Education seats for District 2, 3, and 5; but Incumbents Ben Baker, PJO Phelps, and Teresa Barnett face no opposition for their respective seats.

The registration deadline to be able to vote in November is October 6th, with early voting beginning a week later on October 13th.
