Tomorrow the City of Washington will hold its 2nd Annual Christmas Parade of Lights.
Executive Director of the Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce Jenny Clarke says they are expecting an even bigger parade this year.
“It is going to be even bigger this year than it was last year. Last year we had fifty floats, and this year we are expecting over 125 entries, and about half of those are floats”, said Clarke. “It is going to be beautiful to say the least.”
The parade will begin at 6:00pm, and Clarke urges parade goers to arrive early so they can get a good view of the parade, which will run through Robert Toombs Avenue.
Parade goers, can also expect some snow to be apart of their viewing experience.
“We actually have snow machines on all the lamp posts; it doesn’t collect on the ground or anything, but is something that is a lot of fun, and it is beautiful”, said Clarke. “It’s a great time for kids, because we don’t usually get any snow before Christmas time, so it is an opportunity for them to get a little taste of winter, and to get into the Christmas spirit.”
Once again the parade will be held tomorrow at 6:00pm. For more information about this year’s parade, you can contact the Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce at (706) 678-2013.
