A great turnout was on hand for the Elbert County EMS and Elbert County Fire Department’s fundraiser this past Saturday.
The fundraiser was to help Justin Hobbs, an Elbert County firefighter, and his family with medical costs that have been incurred from their daughter’s stay at the Children’s Hospital of Atlanta.
According to Elbert County EMS Director Chuck Almond, the fundraiser brought in just over five thousand dollars.
“The firefighters came together to have a bag lunch and to raffle off a utility trailer. We were able to raise just over five thousand dollars for the family, and we had a large turnout of fire fighters from Elbert County that came and helped us with the event on Saturday”, said Almond.
The goal was to sell four hundred tickets for the raffle, and Almond said they sold all but a handful of the planned four hundred tickets.
The winner of the utility trailer raffle was Mr. David Blackmon.
Almond said he was appreciative of all the help and contributions from those involved with the fundraiser.
“Ingles was a big supporter, we had Bojangles provide us a lot of the supplies we used, Farm Touch out of Hartwell, GA built the trailer for us”, said Almond. “We want to thank a lot of the EMS staff, a lot of the Fire Department staff, and everyone else who made that day successful.”
Almond also wanted to give a special thanks to Mr. Robbie King for doing all of the cooking for the hot dog bag lunches that were being sold that Saturday.
