Elbert County continues to show how much it cares for its own, as the Zumba Charity Event for Sydney Vickery and her family brought in a lot of money.
Kellyn Willis, Zumba Instructor at the Wellness Center, said that on Friday during the event, they raised close to two thousand dollars.
“That night we actually raised $1,925 dollars, and with a few donations the next day we hit an even $2,000. We could not be happier, we were never expecting that amount so we are thrilled with how the event turned out”, said Willis.
The event was held at the Elberton Elks Lodge, and Willis felt the change of venue really helped them raise more money.
“The location was a very big difference for us; being inside and having the facilities at the Elks Lodge was a great thing for us”, said Willis. “They were serving food, so if anyone wanted to make a donation while they were at the Elks Lodge, which really helped us out with the monetary amount.”
In late August, Sydney was diagnosed with a rare auto immune disease called Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis.
